A New Basketball Goal

A New Basketball Goal

As Easy as 1 2 3

The kids wanted a new basketball goal. The old one was in bad shape and the goal post was rusting out where it went in the ground. The goals they have now, movable and height adjustable that you see in yards all around here did not exist at the time or at least I don’t recall seeing one back then. Continue reading A New Basketball Goal

Slop Jars

Slop Jars

Slop Jars
Some subject matter was just too delicate to talk about in the old days. The days before indoor plumbing, running water and bathrooms posed significant problems as related to the most basic human functions. Polite company would never discuss such a private and personal problem. In a day when the word “pregnant” was never used in front of the kids and code words were used, like “PG”, or “Family Way”, bathroom subjects were even more taboo.

No Beginning and no End

No Beginning and No End

The American Dream

New Year

2016 A New Year and The American Dream

The End of a Dream

2016 is here. A new year with old problems, old solutions, old leadership, and very little outlook for change. We elected the “change” President and he has changed us in ways most never expected.

Ohms Law The Path Of Least Resistance

Ohms Law

There was this German guy who lived in the late 1700’s named Georg Ohm. He was a pretty smart guy, even if he did not know how to spell George.

He started studying electric cells, something we call a battery today, which had been invented or discovered by an Italian guy named Volta. It was not Al Gore, as he might claim.

Farm Bell 2

The Old Bell

Out on a cedar tree that had become a 10′ pole, in the yard, was a rusty iron bell.
It was a dinner bell, but it was more than that alone.
It was used to let the people in the fields know dinner was being served. The ring had to be just right to avoid sounding like an alarm. Just a couple of rings: ding dong, ding dong.

So the sound of that bell was heard by the person or persons working out in the fields or woods. No frantic ringing. It could be heard a mile or two away and they never wanted to send out a “false alarm”.

Immigration A Perspective

What do we owe them?
What do they owe us?
Donald Trump has created quite a stir over immigration and allowing people in from countries that hate us and wish us harm. Reportedly, Democratic President Jimmy Carter denied Iranians access during the hostage crisis and I did not remember that. There are many that agree that people wanting to come here from countries that cannot provide complete and reliable background information should not be allowed. Trump has been skewered by CNN and other networks over his position.

“And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

High Expectations

High Expectations, Very High!
Police killing people.
People killing police.

Again and again we hear the news: cop shoots unarmed man, cop beats pregnant woman, cop shoots man while handcuffed, cops Taser sick man, and cops Taser mentally ill man. Cops staging a raid on the wrong house has happened in the metro Atlanta area several times in the past few weeks.
